Miniature Motor Controller
A modular architecture gives flexibility in a small package.
The cell phone industry is driving a new generation of electronics components in micro-miniature packages. To understand the impact of this on robotics, MechAdept developed a modular, miniature motor controller using standard PCB design rules combined with these newly available IC packages. This is our new benchmark for "normal".
Designed as a 3 board stack, the sensing and driving layers can be customized to the application. The controller is 16mm in diameter, 10mm tall. The stack shown has a 2A driver for brushed motors and CAN bus communications. A brushless driver has been developed thru the feasibility stage.
